Dr. Sierra Temple is a Bonners Ferry native and has proudly served as the owner of Bonners Ferry Veterinary Clinic since November 2024. Her journey with the clinic began in 2012 when she joined Dr. Hall's team as support staff. Over the years, she worked in nearly every role within the hospital—from mowing the lawn and assisting with surgeries to working as a room assistant and receptionist. Those early experiences sparked a passion for veterinary medicine and gave her a deep appreciation for every member of the veterinary team.

Dr. Temple earned her bachelor's degree in Animal Science through North Idaho College and the University of Idaho before graduating from the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2023. During college, she continued building her hands-on experience while working in a veterinary clinic in Moscow, Idaho, where she expanded her technical skills and prepared for the challenges of veterinary school. By the time she became a veterinarian, she had worked in nearly every position within a veterinary practice.

As a mixed animal veterinarian, Dr. Temple enjoys caring for a wide variety of species. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, small animal medicine, and dentistry for both small animals and horses. She is also Fear Free Certified, meaning she has received specialized training to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress for pets during veterinary visits, creating a more positive experience for both animals and their families.

What Dr. Temple loves most about veterinary medicine is the opportunity to help both animals and the people who love them. Whether she's solving a challenging medical case, performing surgery, or helping a family through a difficult decision, she values the chance to combine problem-solving, technical skils, and compassion every day. She believes there's always something new to learn and is committed to continually growing as a veterinarian while providing the highest quality care to her patients.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Temple and her husband stay busy raising their young son and enjoying everything North Idaho has to offer. As a family, they love hiking, camping, mountain biking, and spending time outdoors. They look forward to introducing him to even more adventures as he grows. In her free time, Dr. Temple enjoys horseback riding, with a focus on learning dressage and jumping, as well as painting, reading, and spending time on the water. Growing up, she was actively involved in 4-H, showing horses and raising a variety of livestock.

Fun Fact: Dr. Temple loves learning new skills and jokes that, if time allowed, she'd have far too many hobbies to keep up with. She feels incredibly fortunate to have returned home to Bonners Ferry and is honored to care for the community that helped shape her.

Dr. Gentle knew she was destined to become a veterinarian from early childhood. With her grandmother being the office manager of a veterinary clinic, she loved watching surgeries and spinning blood samples even in her elementary school years. This love for animals grew, along with her passion for science and learning, leading her to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University. Dr. Gentle’s greatest memories (aside from college football) included the OSU lambing team and research in dairy cows. She graduated in 2016 with a major in Zoology and double minor in Toxicology and Chemistry. 

Dr. Gentle pursued her veterinary degree at the UC Davis College of Veterinary Medicine. There she further discovered her passion for cow-calf operations, small ruminant medicine, and equine reproduction. She graduated veterinary school in 2020, with an emphasis in livestock medicine. 

Following graduation, Dr. Gentle started working as a mixed animal veterinarian at Bonners Ferry Veterinary Clinic and the rest is history! She enjoys the small community and anything outdoors with her husband, children, and pets. 

Dr. Roland Houston Hall grew up in Paradise Valley of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where life on the farm helped shape him into a champion. Milking his cow, T-Bone, every day gave him legendary grip strength — a skill that became his secret weapon on the wrestling mat.

Roland was a two-sport athlete at Bonners Ferry High School, playing football on the 1970 District Championship team and excelling in wrestling. In 1971, competing at 171 pounds, he became BFHS’s very first state wrestling champion, back when Idaho had only one division per each weight class. He went on to wrestle at Grays Harbor College before transferring to Washington State University, where he graduated magna cum laude in Veterinary Medicine and met the love of his life, Linda Endow. Following college and military service in the United States Army, Dr. Hall returned to Bonners Ferry and, in 1982, purchased the Bonners Ferry Veterinary Clinic. Finally, on November 1, 2024, after 42 years of ownership and dedicated service to animals and families across the community, Dr. Hall sold the practice to Dr. Sierra Temple, a fellow Bonners Ferry and WSU graduate. He continues to work part-time at BFVC.

Dr. Hall and his wife Linda raised two sons, Aaron (BFHS ’03) and Adam (BFHS ’06), and they are blessed with wonderful daughters-in-law, Desiree and Christine. They love being “Papa and Grammy” to their grandchildren, Theodore (6), Natasha (5), Charley (4), and Maximus (9mo.). Dr. Hall enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, spending time riding with his horses and mules, hanging out at his cabin at the Continental Mine, and traveling with Linda, especially to visit their grandchildren.

Dr. Lori Martin has been practicing veterinary medicine for more than 30 years. She earned her bachelor's degree in Zoology from UC Davis in 1989 before graduating from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994.

Inspired by her mother, an emergency room nurse, Dr. Martin developed a love of both medicine and animals at an early age. She began her career in a busy eight-doctor general and emergency practice, where she was mentored by a board-certified surgeon and built a strong foundation in soft tissue surgery. She later expanded her expertise in reconstructive surgery, including providing pro bono care for animals injured during California's devastating 2003 wildfires.

In 2006, Dr. Martin opened her own veterinary hospital, growing it from a team of five to a thriving five-doctor practice with more than 20 staff members. After nearly two decades of ownership, she sold the practice to one of her associates in 2024.

After moving to Bonners Ferry, Dr. Martin connected with Dr. Temple and quickly found a second home at Bonners Ferry Veterinary Clinic. She enjoys mentoring younger veterinarians, tackling challenging medical and surgical cases, and helping clients find practical solutions when specialty care isn't an option. Her professional interests include internal medicine, pain management, soft tissue and reconstructive surgery, emergency medicine, and critical care. She is also Fear Free Certified and is committed to making every veterinary visit as low-stress as possible.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Martin enjoys hiking with her German Shepherds, cooking, and spending time with her husband, three cats, three dogs, and chickens. She loves the beauty of North Idaho and is grateful to be part of the Bonners Ferry community.

Fun Fact: In the early 2000s, Dr. Martin nearly left veterinary medicine to open a veterinary safari company in South Africa. Fortunately for her patients—and ours—that adventure never happened.

Hi, I’m Becky. I am a Veterinary Technician. I started in August 2009 mowing the lawn one day a week and have worked my way up from there. My favorite part of my job is doing dental cleanings. Taking x-rays to see what’s going on under the gum line, giving the patients a clean and fresh mouth, and eliminating their discomfort from bad teeth is very satisfying. I have two dogs and three cats - all of whom came to live with me through the vet clinic in one way or another. Many of you might know Lucy, my golden retriever/lab mix who sometimes goes to work with me. She loves greeting people and getting attention and treats. In typical lab fashion, her stomach guides her decisions, good or bad. Duchess is my lab mix who gained a whole new lease on life when I adopted her and she is the epitome of pure joy. Penelope, my domestic shorthair tabby, is a spunky kitten at heart who is an avid hunter and keeps me laughing. Sammie and Dusty, my two Siamese mixes, came to live with me after a dear friend’s passing and having them is like having a part of her still here. When I’m not at work, you can usually find me swimming in the Moyie or pontooning/kayaking on it, walking with my girls, shooting hoops, at a concert (usually Brandi Carlile) or at a musical. 

Hi I’m Jessica. I am a vet assistant/receptionist I have worked in the Veterinary industry for around six years. I took time off to raise my beautiful family and now I am back! I love getting to know the community by helping your pets whether it’s making their appointments or seeing them in the rooms. Animals are an extension of our families in my opinion. I have 2 dogs (Ripley and Juniper) 2 cats (Stella and Binx) and a bunny named Willow. I know I would want the best possible care for my fur babies which is why I love working at our clinic. Everyone holds themselves to a level of integrity not commonly found elsewhere. We all strive to do our best to ensure all pets are well cared for and so clients can feel comfortable bringing their extended family members. 

Hi I’m LaRae. I have been a receptionist 23 years I enjoy interacting with clients and their pets that come to our clinic to seek care from our team. I am a grandma of 14 and they are my world. My grand kids are very sports driven so I try to go to as many sporting events that I can, from Idaho, Oregon or Montana I am their biggest fan. Basketball is my favorite sport and 2 of my grand kids are playing basketball at the college level! I have owned horses my whole life along with a few dogs and cats. I have been married to my husband for 45 years. I have always brought my animals for the last 45 years to BFVC to receive all the vet care!

Hi, I'm Tatiana. Here at the vet clinic I work part of the time at the front desk, and part of the time as a cleaner and assistant. I have been officially working for the clinic starting September of 2025! What I love most about working here is that I get the opportunity every day to give other people's pets the treatment and care they need, and the to hopefully make every animal's life a little bit better! I have a blue-grey Kitty named Juniper, who when he isn't knocking stuff of counters and tearing around the forest, is cuddling and sleeping with me. (He loves to watch me cook too for some reason). I have two other family cats, as well as one great Pyrenees and another Anatolian/Pyrenees mix named Sonora. I take Sonora for hikes and other adventures, and she is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever owned! A fun hobby of mine is hatching and caring for a flock of 87 chickens. I also enjoy piano and singing.

I'm Ashton, I work as a room technician and receptionist. I've been at the clinic since August of 2025 when I started as an intern. My favorite part of working at the clinic is meeting all the pets and learning more about cytology. I have 3 pets, a pup named Koda Bear who loves playing Frisbee, snuggling on the couch, and playing with his sister, my cat Inca. Inca enjoys playing with Koda, watching the birds and lounging on the back of the couch. I also have a rabbit named Bugs who is very sweet and shy. 

Hi I’m Cassie! I am a Certified Veterinary Assistant. I started working at Bonners Ferry Veterinary Clinic in February 2025. My favorite part of the job is client education. My husband and I own 1 husky, 1 German shepherd, 1 malamute and 1 malamute mix. You can find me on my days off in the woods or on the water.
